Moore et al.1984 : An overview of the mobile robot program of the Robotics Laboratory of the University of Virginia is presented. At first the research was concerned primarily with the fundamentals of autonomous and semiautonomous operation of automobiles and is now directed towards mobile robots operating in a factory environment for automation. Algorithms are described for navigation and obstacle avoidance, and project literature is cited for the reader with an indepth interest of the subject. Robot dynamic control problems are defined and described.
