H.2.2 Air cushion vehicle

(2-D satellite motion, air-jet-propelled, 1982 – 1987)

A.2 Satellite model plant

  • Vehicle with mass of about 7 kg, floating on an air cushion, propelled by reaction jets.
  • Three degrees of freedom (two translations and one rotation),
  • controlled by opening and closing valves of a high-pressure air system.
  • The vehicle base is capable of carrying and moving up to 70 kg almost frictionless on a rigid table of size ~ 2 by 2 m;
  • very small accelerations only; this device was used as a laboratory experiment in control engineering for graduate students.
